If, by the end of January, Elon doesn’t fix this bullshit with Grok generating unconsentual porn of users, as well as allowing people to edit photos to threaten murdering jews, lynching black people with full on slurs that I’d hate to say. I will be forced to cancel X Premium and leave that platform, even though it brought me more joy than ever.
Bluesky doesn’t feel like a strong option either. It feels way too woke for someone like me, who’s woke in the most normal capacity. The fact of the matter is that it’s not globally used. It’s US-centric.
It doesn’t have the funny posts in Serbian, or the dubstep fanbase I grew up to love. It doesn’t have the random shedtwt “oomfies” or the “i bracha burger” memes from Avatar fans that randomly got recommended to me. There is no algorithm on Bluesky, at least not that gets me into shit that I like.
I tried using it, genuinely, and as much as I don’t get traction on there, I’ve gotten used to 0 impressions even on X because I post slop that not even the algorithm likes. It’s just what my brain pours out.
The point I’m trying to make is that, even though people have been trying to skeet away from this platform, it still has a cultural chokehold on the whole world, not just the balkans, which I specially find funny because that’s what I resonate with the most.
I can’t relate to Zohran Mamdani posts, or some bullshit happening to Venezuela. I can, though, relate and stand with Students and protests happening (though most of them are calmed down due to a lot of bullshit happening internally)
My main goal isn’t to blow up – the point I’m trying to make is that I’ll be crippling myself of the most thrilling social media experience that I’ve ever seen because of the simple fact that not only is Elon excavating a big grave for it, AI has ruined it.
I’m a huge fan of AI, except media generation. There’s a level of grey-area that I can accept, which involves YOUR content, but when it comes to AI, until you have full control of the input and output, the likes of which you have when it comes to Large Language Models that output text, you are not ethically consuming it.
When it comes to Grok, you do get a few toggles that, as of the new ToS enactment do fuck-all, and they still allow themselves to train on your content and on your profile. That’s not bad by itself, as nothing you post on the internet is truly as private as you think. Anti-AI people boast about switching to Bluesky, and yet don’t host their PDS-es, which in turn gives absolutely anyone the free will to just snatch your content, as the AT Protocol is designed for anyone to see.
The latest drama happening, which is worse than MechaHitler, involves Sexual Harassment and memeing of it (which enables it), and edits of pictures posted by the White House that involve threats to kill users that are doxxed, as well as ethnic and racial groups.
This is absolutely inexcusable, and I’ve heard fuck all about solving the issues. Nikita’s probably working on it, but there’s no confirmation on that.
It’s still way too early to quit, as this is some really new shit. Safeguards really need to get implemented, but this lasted DAYS more than MechaHitler. Which concerns me about what they’re doing behind the scenes.
Until then, I’ll be waiting.
Another thing – I’m still irked about the fact I can’t turboyap without paying on X or in general on Bluesky. Horrible. Absolutely horrible. Microblogging is dead and we need longer posts.
